Chapter 1: Shadows of The Past
A gentle wind blew through the window into Thimarus' corridor. He sat on the balcony overlooking the grand kingdom of Akhear. Thimarus was reading the accounts of the battle of Moradsa, which account the valor of Draso, Thimarus' father's father. Draso Had fallen in that battle to the blade of Malcor the sorcerer of Dareak. Thimarus had read this book many times before. He could put an image in his head of three armies, man, elf and dwarf all together under one banner. Malcor and the Lord of Dareak had unleashed their evil upon the world. Nazzhan, they were called. Some say they were a cross breed of ologs, the servants of Malcor and orcs.
Of course they were eradicated in the battle when Dracaus, the king of Akhear at the time, broke the amulet Malcor wore that bound the nazzhan to this world. Thimarus closed the book and stood up. He gazed over the kingdom. Guards patrolled up and down the streets as people were filing into the Temple of Letor. He spotted his brother, Arimus, fully armored walking up the steps to the palace. Thimarus said to himself, "Arimus should still out at Morenas. Why has he come back so soon?"
He turned and walked briskfully out of his room and towards the throne-room where his father sat eating his dinner. The aroma of venison and Brola potatoes made his mouth water. Brola was always known for their farmers and excellent potatoes. Arimus came in after Thimarus and walked past him and bowed before the king, "My lord, I bring you news from Morenas."
Thinslan spoke, "what is it my son?"
"Ologs have increased their activity around Dareak. Tor says that within the last month their numbers have doubled." said Arimus.
Thinslan wiped his mouth and stood up, "Yes, that is what is expected. Breeding is commmon my son."
Arimus stood up as well, "Father, the fires of Dareak are re-lit. Orcs have been reported going towards there. Something has stirred the enemy. They have awoken from their slumber!"
A servant ran into the room, "My lord! Come, look outside!"
Thinslan and his sons ran out of the throne room and outside. They stopped and looked up into the sky. A skull lay up in the sky. the sky aorund it was green and gray. Thimarus spoke, "It is the mark of Malcor."
Thinslan replied, "Indeed it is. No one has seen this in 200 years. Malcor has returned my sons."
